This meeting will be our first meeting for the year of 2015.

It will be great to see you all on the first meeting of the new year.

This will be a relatively informal first meeting. We have some members who have already offered to play. We should have some pieces available for our guitar orchestra as well. Any one else who has something to play would be very welcome. It could be a future or previous exam piece for example. Or just something you have been working on recently.

See you there this coming Sunday for more enjoyable guitar playing and listening.

Guitar Society Committee

The committee had a planning meeting at Clydes a couple of weeks ago. Business included:

  1. Committee members are sending pieces to Owen for inclusion in our ensemble book for this year. Owen does a great job getting this organised. Many thanks to him. And to all those who make contributions.
  2. There are a couple of concerts coming up with overseas artists. Jane is generally at the centre of organising these events. And they involve lots of work and effort behind the scenes. This is such a wonderful contribution to guitar life in Wellington. Many thanks to Jane. More details to come!
  3. Mike has agreed to make an A5 poster based on our brochure which can be displayed around town. Anything we can do to encourage more participation in our society is very welcome.
  4. The following are suggested as themes for some of the meetings during the year.
  5. Tim playing a solo bracket.
  6. Tim playing a bracket together with a cello player.
  7. Owen playing a solo bracket in preparation for an upcoming solo concert.
  8. An Australasian music evening including own compositions from members. (Some of the people suggested still need to be asked!)
  9. NZ school of music guitar orchestra.
  10. Technical issues with Jane
  11. Lecture/demonstration on major guitar work
  12. Concert for new/up and coming students from NZSM.
  13. Music from the renaissance.

And other ideas from members are very welcome!

Also – if you would like to make a contribution to the society, you are very welcome to join the committee. Just talk to a committee member.
