Classical guitarists Jake Church and George Wills formed Duo Kitā in 2014. Duo Kitā completed their debut New Zealand tour in 2015 and quickly established themselves as an exciting chamber group. This tour was supported with a Freemasons Lankhuyzen/Whetu-Kairangi Music Award. A passionate interest in a variety of music leads their programs to explore music from European lute culture to modern day composers who unashamedly push the boundaries of the classical guitar. Performance highlights include the Victoria University Alumni Awards Ceremony, Victoria University Legacy Club, St Andrews on the Terrace, and the Sarah Lilli Family Charity Concert 2015. Recently, Duo Kitā performed as finalists in the prestigious Pettman/Royal Overseas League Chamber Competition.

In 2016, both Jake and George received the New Zealand Aspiring Guitarist Awards for the Taranaki Classical Guitar Summer School. After performing a featured concert as soloists, Duo Kitā closed the Summer School with a performance of Marek Pasieczny’s Polish Sketches.
