Giuliani concerto

For Guitar and Orchestra (without
orchestra)

Owen Moriarty had a performance of this virtuoso work coming up. It will be performed in Devonport, Auckland, Nov 13 at 2pm, Holy Trinity Church (20 Church St).

The full programme is as follows:

· Giuliani Concerto No.1 Op.30,

· Bach violin Concerto in Aminor

· Alan Thomas double concerto (violin and guitar)

As Owen says,

The Giuliani concerto is more or less a piece of solo guitar music anyway so it won’t be too weird without the orchestra part. Being one of the top New Zealand players it is always great to hear Owen play anything. This should be a particular treat.

Here is a link to another performer ( not Owen!) playing one of the movements from the concerto in A no. 1 – to give you a taste!

Please come along and bring friends and family.

Other things happening at the meeting…

Guitar
Ensemble:

Of course we will start with our Guitar Ensemble.

If you are not part of this – be brave – choose a part that suits your ability – get the music and start practising.

We will have a run through a variety of pieces from our ensemble repertoire and decide what we will play for the Christmas concert next month.

If you do not have a copy yet of the ensemble pieces, fear not – you can share at the meeting.

Members
playing

Any one who has something to play would be very welcome. This is a big part of what we are about – lots of us playing guitar.

It would be great to hear more playing from others.

It could be a future or previous exam piece for example. Or just something you have been working on recently.

See you there this coming Sunday for more enjoyable guitar playing and listening.

Future meeting

December 4th

Christmas Concert

Please think of preparing something to play at this concert, an ensemble piece or a solo piece. The more the merrier.
