The program for November is:

  1. Our normal ensemble get- together.  This is our last rehearsal before the Christmas concert.

The  Christmas concert will feature our group playing the following pieces:

  1. Pavane
  2. Gaillarde
  3. Ronde
  4. Meridian
  5. Baby Elephant Walk
  6. Milonga
  7. Lachrimae

Please practice your parts and remember which part you are on.

We have  the music group booklet.  Get your own personal copy as soon as you pay your society fees. See below on how to do that.   Get the pleasure and musical benefit from being part of this exciting group. – Please bring a music stand for your music and your footstool.. If you are new there will also be music for you to share on the night.

This will start at 4.15. Please be on time. It really helps if you stay in the group you have ended up in. Then you can also work on developing your playing on your particular part. At the moment our groups are as follows.

The groupings are as follows:

Part 1 – Clyde, Tim Fu, David S, Mike WR

Part 2 – Jamie, Roy

Part 3 – Mark Polett, Grant R, Dylan S

Part 4 – Phil C, D.M.S, Chris B., Amber M.

Please, please, please – if you would like to be part of the group and are not on the list, just let us know and we will fit you in. Group 2 looks a bit light at the moment.

  1. Playing from society members. There has not been much opportunity for this lately. Be great if people could have solos and ensembles prepared that could then be played for Christmas concert. Be great if we can get this onto a program for our December meeting.
  2. Our feature spot for the evening will be

The New Zealand Guitar Quartet

We are so very fortunate to have the members of this quartet as foundation members of the society and also so willing to contribute their craft to our society. These guys are just fantastic and widely loved. Do yourself a musical favour and come and see them perform for free in the intimate setting of the guitar society.

 Program:

The Quartet will be playing the following pieces (time permitting):

  1. Djembe by Andrew York
  2. Music in Four Sharps (on Dowland’s “Frog Galliard”) by Ian Krouse
  3. Bow Chaser by Carlos Rivera
  4. Techno by Jurg Kindle
