Guitarist/composer Julie Bevan brings a unique blend of original and classic Bossa Nova to international audiences.  In 2004 she received a CNZ grant to study music in Brazil, the beginning of a career long passion for the vibrant music of South America. Julie’s recent critically acclaimed album ‘Kaleidoscope’ was recorded both in Brazil and Aotearoa.

In 2008, again with the financial assistance from CNZ, Julie directed/produced a multi-media show featuring eleven musicians, singers, and dancers. This show was featured in the 2008 Queenstown Jazz Festival and toured Aotearoa. 

Julie has collaborated with musicians from around the world. One such collaboration led to a tour of Sweden in 2012 (funded by the Swedish Arts Council) 

Julie studied at the NZ School of Music.  She has presented concerts of original music in Japan, Brazil, Australia, and NZ. Julie founded several bands: Zamba Flam, Jamming Knot, and the Julie Bevan Quartet. She was also a co-founder or the Wellington Batucada.
