Feature Guests

Duo Tapas

They are at present playing concerts around New Zealand and have agreed to come and play at our April meeting as featured guests.

They played for us a year or two ago and were completely fantastic!

Duo Tapas

In early 2010, Rupa Maitra, violin and Owen Moriarty, guitar, formed Duo Tapas, with the aim of performing a wide range of music written for this beautiful combination of instruments as well as exploring and introducing to the public exciting new arrangements of music existing for other instruments. Duo Tapas’ repertoire ranges from Vivaldi and Paganini through to De Falla and Bartok and more recent eastern Europe composers, styles ranging from Baroque through to twentieth century, including music influenced by folk music of Spain, Eastern Europe, Japan, Ireland and New Zealand.

Here is a link to wonderful playing

Also at the meeting:

Guitar Ensemble:

Of course we will start with our Guitar Ensemble.

These can be accessed at

https://yadi.sk/d/BI7xQ7yv3EXcDR

Please just go to this link and then click on each title to get a copy on your computer which you can then print.

The pieces we will work with today will be in the following order:

1.All in a garden

2. Drink to Me Only

3. German Dance

4. The water is wide
5. Hong Dou Ci http://www.forrestguitarensembles.co.uk/Assets/scores/quartets/Q0064HongDouCi.pdf

In the future we will also look at

Le Phenix http://www.forrestguitarensembles.co.uk/Assets/scores/quartets/Q0015LePhenix.pdf

These all have reasonably simple parts. . But also some parts are more difficult than others for the same piece. Choose a part that is reasonably easy to play for you. Please if possible download and print for yourself. However, If you forget to do this before the meeting – fear not – we will have paper copies at the meeting. But it is a big help if you can do this for yourself.
