Octobers Meeting New Venue!

Our next meeting will be held on Sunday 2 October   New Venue! Our next meeting will be held at Thistle Hall 293 Cuba st.   The meeting will start at 4.30pm and finish at 6.30 pm. Welcome If you’re a guitar listener, a beginner player, a seasoned professional or anywhere in between – you are very welcome to join us as we enjoy listening to and playing music for guitar. Guitar Ensemble:  If you have yet to join our ensemble – be brave – choose a part that suits your ability – print the music and start practicing. Owen has very kindly (as he does each year) taken responsibility for organising the guitar ensemble music. The program for this month is: Our normal ensemble  get- together. We have  the music group booklet now organised and ready for distribution. Get your own personal copy as soon as you pay your society fees. See below on how to do that.   Get the pleasure and musical benefit from being part of this exciting group. – Please bring a music stand for your music and your footstool.. If you are new there will also be music for you to share on the night. Playing from society members. It could be a solo or an ensemble piece. Please be brave and consider doing this. June Meeting

Our next guitar society meeting IS NOT on the first Sunday. This is because this is Queen’s Birthday weekend. So we have moved it to Sunday 8th June. Otherwise same time and place. Special note Our bank account is empty and so we have run out of money to pay for the next hall hire for our meeting. Please, if you have not paid your fees and you like to come along to society – please get them paid asap. We are a bit desperate. Guitar Society Christmas Concert – Sunday 1st December

Dear guitar society members Sunday 1st December is our Christmas Concert. Practice at 4.15 – Concert at 4.45pm, @ New Crossways. It would be really great to have you with us. It would be really great if you could play a piece. It will be fantastic if you can bring friends and/or relatives. So far I have a few students playing solos or duets. Julie Bevan has agreed to play something. I will also play a couple of pieces with a flute playing friend of mine. It will be fantastic to have more performers. We need more performers. If you can play something – let us know before hand or just tell us on the day. The simplest of pieces can bring much joy to others and give you a great sense of pride and accomplishment to have performed....

Our next meeting will be held on Sunday 3rd November. The address is Crossways (upstairs) at 6 Roxburgh Street, Mt Victoria. The meeting will start at 4.15 pm and finish at 6.30 pm. The program for this month is: 1. Play in and practise for Christmas concert – where everybody with a guitar can take part in playing in a large group of guitars. Members and interested parties are warmly invited to the next WCGS meeting Sunday August 11th, New Crossways, 6 Roxburgh St, Mt Victoria. Start; 4.15 Group playing – 5pm solo/ensemble open mic! – 5.15pm guest artist – 6.20pm finish Currently studying a Masters of Music Performance at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, Daniel frequently participates in major competitions and has been the recipient of several awards and prizes, including the Classical Guitar Society of Victoria’s ‘Alhambra Sadie Award’ – one of Australia’s most prestigious classical guitar awards. In 2011 Daniel won 1st place representing Australia and New Zealand in the Lions Global Youth Music Competition held in Seattle USA.
