Firstly we had our regular large group play in. This is always fun and seems to go nicely and is an enjoyable group to be part of.

Then we had a variety of students and prospective students from the NZ School of music a variety of quality guitar repertoire with polish and panache. Bravo!

Mike WR played a duet written by Michael Calvert in 1993. It is called “A small gift”. Michael Calvert won the New Zealand guitar composition last year. This was organised by Matthew Marshall and there are plans for Matthew to create a CD of work by Michael Calvert. Mike WR had recorded himself playing one part and then played this back through an amp while he played the other. The performance was notable for the matched sound of the guitars and also the similarity in style of the performers.
