Guitar Society Christmas Concert – Sunday 1st December

Our next meeting will be held on Sunday 3rd November. The address is Crossways (upstairs) at 6 Roxburgh Street, Mt Victoria. The meeting will start at 4.15 pm and finish at 6.30 pm. The program for this month is: 1. Play in and practise for Christmas concert – where everybody with a guitar can take part in playing in a large group of guitars. October Meeting Recap
Firstly we had our regular large group play in. This is always fun and seems to go nicely and is an enjoyable group to be part of. Then we had a variety of students and prospective students from the NZ School of music a variety of quality guitar repertoire with polish and panache. Bravo! Wednesday November 27th – Duo Tapas (Owen Moriarty guitar and Rupa Maitra violin) play at St Andrews on the Terrace at 12.15 Friday 15th November – There is a café concert at Mojos in upper Willis Street (just down from old Settlement restaurant) starting at 7pm. Taranaki Summer School
Held at Highlands Intermediate School, 2012 was the first Summer School for classical guitar held in New Zealand since the early ’90’s. This Taranaki Classical Guitar Summer School was jam packed with workshops, masterclasses and ensembles designed to improve both guitar playing and appreciation. Culminating in performance at Pukekura Park Festival of Lights, the 2012 Summer School was a huge success with over 60 participants.
