Cameron Sloan is a Christchurch-based guitarist, composer, and teacher. Cameron is currently working on a collection of music for beginner and intermediate guitarists. After struggling to find pieces that his students were interested in learning, he began composing repertoire that aimed to engage students’ musically whilst helping them to develop their technique.

Cameron graduated with a Master of Music from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music in 2018, where he studied with the ARIA award winning classical guitarist Tonié Field. He also holds a Bachelor of Music with 1st Class Honours from Te Kōkī New Zealand School of Music, where he studied with Dr. Jane Curry and Matthew Marshall.

As a solo performer, he has presented concerts around New Zealand and Australia, featuring music ranging from 16th-century lute repertoire to 21st-century music by New Zealand composers. He is also an active chamber musician and has performed in duos and quartets in New Zealand and Australia, including a tour of Victoria, Australia as part of the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music Guitar Quartet. In 2018, he was the recipient of the New Zealand Aspiring Guitarist award at the Taranaki Classical Guitar Summer School. Cameron has also taken masterclasses with some of the world’s leading classical guitarists – including Alieksey Vianna, Ricardo Gallen, Xufei Yang, John Couch and Miguel Trapaga.
